Smoke Detectors - Draft Regulations now available
Sun 29 Mar 2015
The new Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 have now been prepared and are available in draft form. These regulations are made under the Energy Act 2013 and impose requirements on landlords in the private rented sector.
Landlords will be required to fit a smoke detector on each storey of the property that is adapted or used as residential accommodation and also to fit a carbon monoxide alarm in any room which contains a solid fuel appliance.
The provisions will be enforced by the Local Authority and non compliance could result in a fine of up to £5000.
